Where is Runwayclub Ireland held?

Runwayclub’s event in Ireland will be held at Dublin Weston Airport on 13th August 2017. It is ideally located just off the M4 in Dublin, take junction 5 and proceed 1.5km out the Cellbridge road and it is on your right hand side. It is only a couple of hours from every major city in Ireland & Northern Ireland. For UK competitors it is conveniently only 10 minutes from Dublin Port.

Will food and drinks be available at the event?

Yes. Catering facilities will be available throughout the event duration. It is our aim to ensure you have an enjoyable day undertaking the Vmax challenges, hang out with like- minded people, enjoy the cool vibe and hospitality present on the day.

Can I attend the event if I am less than 18 years old?

Yes. Persons under 18 years old can attend.

Where can I stay over for a night in the area?.

There are many hotels in the area, with Weston being so close to Dublin city. If your preference is to remain in the vicinity of the event then we recommend the following hotels:

Can I bring alcohol to Runwayclub’s Event?.

All forms of alcoholic beverages are prohibited items airside at the airport and as such prohibited from being brought to the event or consumed at the event. Considering the events nature it would be irresponsible to facilitate any alcoholic beverage being consumed.
Runwayclub has developed a good relationship with An Garda Siochana and the future of our event, like all events, depends on the continued goodwill of our host community and its nearby residents.

 

COMPETITORS
How do I enter my car?

You need to email the vehicle entry team on info@runwayclub.ie. Once received we will be in touch to confirm your entry.

Can I enter my car on the day?

It is not possible to enter a vehicle on the day. All prospective entrants must ensure their entry is completed prior to the cut-off date. It is a private pre-registered day only & all car entries must be submitted by 03/08/17.

What’s the deadline for submitting the entry form?

Entries close when the event sells out or by the 12/08/17, whichever comes first.
When will I know if my entry application has been accepted?
Successful entries will be notified by email no later than three weeks following their application. To secure their position, in their respective cars categories, they will need to make the required payment prior to the event.

How should I prepare my car for the event?

You should ensure that the following, but not limited to, checks have been undertaken:
Half a minimum of a 3/4 tank of fuel. (A petrol station is located within 3km of the event)
Ensure your tyres have the correct ISO/ EU speed rating (>270kmh) & legal required tread depth.
Ensure the car is of high mechanical integrity.
Ensure your car is insured.
Ensure your car is NCT and/or MOT certified.
Ensure that all bodywork components are securely fastened.

Are motorbikes eligible to enter Runwayclub?

No. We do not currently have provisions under our insurance policy to allow for motorbikes at Runwayclub Vmax Challenge 2017.

Can I enter a non-road registered car?

We are working on having non-road registered cars at future events however for Runwayclub’s event on 12/08/17 we cannot accept entries due to insurance policy restrictions. If you’d like to enquire about a demonstration class entry please email us on: info@runwayclub.ie.

Do I need to wear helmet?.

Yes. It is Runwayclub Ireland’s preferred that race helmets are worn for all runway passes in the unlikely event of an incident. Helmets should be certified to the relevant ISO classification & be FIA approved.

Can I do a pre-run burnout?

Warming your tires prior to a runway pass can we undertaking by breaking traction for a short period. It is our, and the traffic marshalls preferred, that NO large burn-outs are undertaken however small pre-run traction breaks are permissible.

Can I take passengers?

Yes. If you have invited guests and they have signed the appropriate forms then they are entitled to be passengers in your car. These runs will be demonstrator type runs limited to 200 Km/h.

Is there a minimum horsepower requirement to enter?

No. However a car entry under the 200BHP range will be entered in Category 3 classification runs.

Can I enter without a valid driver’s license?

No. If you do not possess a full Irish, UK & EU licence you will not be permitted to take part in the event. Licences will be required to be displayed at the drivers sign in session.

Can I arrange a ‘friend or foe’ match runway pass with another competitor?

Yes. Competitors can arrange to line up against another competitor during the event. We will have allocated ‘pull-in’ parking areas to allow you to wait for them. While our event traffic marshalls will try and assist entrants where possible to ensure the event flows smoothly we cannot guarantee that an entrant will be able to line up against their chosen opponent for any particular run.

How do I know what speed I have achieved?.

Each competitor will have their speed displayed on the display boards at the starline & holding area. The recorded V(max) speeds per car will be historically recorded so that each driver can check their results. We are working on having individual print outs for each competitor for the 0 -1000m & Rolling 50kmh to 1050m Vmax Challenges.
Guests & Spectators

Are general spectators allowed at the event?

No. Only car entrants and their guests are permitted entry to the event. A limited number of guest tickets will be made available. If you have interest in attending then please us on: info@runwayclub.ie

Will tickets still be available at the gate?

Limited: A limited number of guest tickets will be made available at the door. If you have interest in attending then please us on: info@runwayclub.ie

Can I get into the competitor car park with my guest ticket?

Yes, you have full entry rights into the main event competitors holding area with your guest ticket. You are also eligible to avail of passenger laps once the associated forms have been signed.

Are there places where I’m NOT allowed to go?

Spectators are not permitted anywhere near the runway side beyond the Vmax startline positions. A small event area will be available for competitors & guest to view the cars starting at the east end between main & return taxiway. It will be strictly controlled by marshalls.

Does my guest ticket allow me to go for passenger rides?

Yes. So long as the appropriate forms have been signed, you are wearing a helmet & allocated wrist band you are permitted to go for passenger laps.

Does my guest ticket include parking?

Yes. General public parking will be available at the overflow parking facility on the right hand side along the main entrance into Dublin Weston Airport. It will be signed posted.

Where are the toilet facilities at the event?.

All competitors and guests can use the main airport building toilet facilities for the duration of the event. They will need to display their wrist bands to re-enter the event through the security gate.

Are there disabled facilities at the venue?

Yes there are disabled facilities available at Dublin Weston Airport.

Is the event still on if it rains?

Yes. The event is on irrespective of the weather however severe weather may see delays in the event schedule. Road sweepers will be on hand to clear any surface water from the main runway and pass length could be reduced.

MEDIA
How do I apply for a media pass?

You need to email us on info@runwayclub.ie to secure a media pass. Only a few passes are available to cover the event.

Do all media need to attend the drivers briefing?

Yes. The drivers briefing is compulsory for attending media. If you haven’t attended the drivers briefing you will not permitted to enter the competition area. (See schedule for timetable for drivers briefing).

If I don’t have a media pass can I still photograph around the competitor holding area etc.?

No. You will not be permitted inside the event area security gates which will not allow up close photography.

I have an assistant that carries all my photo/video gear for me. Will they still need a media pass?

Yes, anyone entering the event through the security gate will require a media pass.
